HISTORY AND MEMORIES OF CARLISLE COUNTY by Ran Graves   a "must have" for all who have ties to Carlisle County.  Mr. Graves was the owner/editor of the Carlisle County News and recognized a need for a history of Carlisle County.  Contains his recollections of early settlers; settlement of the various communities in the county, first residents, businesses and place in county history.  As a "survivor" of the historic 1917 tornado through Bardwell he gives his account of what happened, along with several pictures of the damage.  Many stories of Carlisle County not found anywhere else.   82 pages this book is reasonably priced at $10.00 (US). DR. SUTTON'S LEDGER  1903 - 1907  Dr. Sutton practiced medicine in the Milburn area for many years.  On the pages of this ledger are his paitents names and types of services rendered.  Also includes the amount charged and in some cases how the patient paid.  Some are amusing:  "chopped wood for half-a-day, two chickens, slaughtered hogs, etc.", until you consider that was often the only way a person could pay him for his services.   $10.00 (US).  KY residents add $0.60 for KY state sales tax.,  S & H  $2.50

J. N. SANFORD  1859 "S" BOOK  Born 24 March 1836, he was a clerk for T. M. Horn in Milburn at age 18.  After 2 years he opened a saddle and harness shop and then in 1859 he opened a general store.  Engaged in buying and prizing tobacco, he was the only dealer in Carlisle County for a period of years.  He died 22 January 1895 and is buried in Milburn Cemetery.  Unfortunately the copy process on such an old book did not make the best of copies but is still a reference for items sold and purchased by individuals in 1859.  100 pages.  $8.00   KY Residents add $ 0.48 sales tax.  S & H $2.50

MARRIAGES-CARLISLE COUNTY, KENTUCKY 1886-1892. Previously published by Bob & Carolyn Milner.  Carlisle County was created from Ballard County in 1886.  This volume includes, in 1886-87, names of the bride and groom, date and location of the ceremony, those present, suretor, person solemnizing the wedding (Minister, Justice of the Peace or other), and the County Clerk.  Beginning in 1888, information also includes residence, age, birthplace, number of marriages of the bride and groom, as well as the birthplace (but not the names of) parents of the bride and groom.  Not until 1891 were the names of parents included.  There is a separate, 5 page listing of "Black" Marriages.  Index includes names of everyone involved in any way in any of the ceremonies.  108 pages + index.  $15.00  KY Residents add $ 0.90 sales tax.  S & H $2.50
