Murray followed their moves via various Censuses from Ballard County, KY - 1850 Census; Washington, Wapella Co., IA - 1956 Iowa Census; Pawnee, Nebraska Territory - 1860 Census; Pawnee, Pawnee, NE - 1910 Census.
BOOK COMMITTEE REPORT - Murray Akers: No activity.
OLD BUSINESS:
Murray met with Michael Toon, Editor and Publisher of the Carlisle Weekly, who agreed to publish "DO YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE?" WHICH SOMEWHAT DEFINES THE LARGE QUANTITY OF QUALITY RESEARCH MATERIAL THE Society has available for use by members and visitors - over 1,500 documents, books, maps, surname files, family records, etc.
Then, Michael will follow-up with weekly insertions from our "INDEX to BCHGS RESOURCES". He will also forward this information to Anita Bugg for inclusion in the Ballard Weekly
Murray also asked Michael about "Footsteps in Time" and he will use whatever we send.
We need to aggressively solicit the donation of Church and School yearbooks, rosters, histories, etc. There was some discussion and several of those present indicated that they would try to locate material, but we didn't get any stand up and cheer volunteers. If any of you out-of-towners have old school yearbooks, please let us know. We have NONE from Carlisle, a few from Ballard, so you might want to check with Murray Akers - makers012@windstream.net - before sending anything from Ballard so we don't get duplications.
It was moved and seconded that Margaret advise everyone who has purchased Ran Graves' History & Memories of Carlisle County that we now have an index available - cost - only $3.50 + 1.50 shipping and handling, + $.21 for KY customers.
Zane will be adding the new Roots Digger Index, 2005-2009, to our Publications page. $10 + $2.50 S & H, $.60 sales tax for KY residents.
NEW BUSINESS:
Question of our old copier was discussed. It was voted some months ago to donate it to the B-C-L Library if they could find space for it. To date they have not been able to do so. The Carlisle Museum and Library has asked, if the Library can't use the copier, could it be donated to them. During the discussion it was pointed out that, if the Library had a copier, we would avoid the possibility of an untrained individual damaging or disabling our new copier. Further discussion was tabled until the B-C-L Librarian, Sonya Nainord, can be consulted.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Received a nice "Thank You" from Mary Robinson, Anchor Point, AK for our minutes. And, thank you, Mary.
ROOTS DIGGER - Phyllis Hester. In the works. Will be out in the fall.
